Day Wise Detail Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1: NJP to Darjeeling

Pick up from Bagdogra/NJP and head towards the Queen of Hills Darjeeling.

You can add a little adventure to your visit by opting to enjoy the Toy train ride of Darjeeling Himalayan Railways (DHR) from Kurseong to Darjeeling. Riding the Toy Train has always remained a coveted experience to the tourists. You can get down at Kurseong and take the daily school train that runs between Kurseong and Darjeeling. This steam hauled train starts from Kurseong at 7:00am in the morning (no. 52587) and reaches Darjeeling at 9:40am.  Thereafter, check in to your hotel.

In the afternoon you can set off for a sightseeing tour. Visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park famous for the Red Panda (closed on Thursday) Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self-help Centre (closed on Sunday), Tea Garden (outer view), and Japanese Temple. Evening free. Overnight stay at hotel in Darjeeling.

Day 2

Day 2: Darjeeling Sightseeing and transfer to Gangtok

Early in the Morning (at 4.00 am) drive to Tiger Hill to watch the spectacular Sunrise over Mt.  Khangchendzonga (28,208 ft), the world’s third highest mountain.

On your way back visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. Thereafter, transfer to the Land of the Pristine and unspoilt natural beauty, Sikkim. Check in at Gangtok (5500 Ft) hotel.  Enjoy your leisure hours with a walk through the Mall. Overnight at Gangtok.


Day 3

Day 03: Gangtok to Lachen (Start time will depend upon time of availability of permit)

Pick up from Gangtok and drive to Lachen (120km).

On the way stop for sightseeing spots like Tashi View Point, Kabi Lungtsok, Naga Waterfall and The Confluence of Lachen Chu & Lachung Chu at Chungthang.

Lunch will be taken at Namok (A Wayside Inn). The whole journey takes about 6-7 hours drive. By evening you reach at Lachen and your trip for the first day ends.


Day 4

Day 04: Gurudongmar Lake and transfer to Lachung

After early breakfast (Packed), leave for Thangu & Chopta Valley. Thangu valley occupies a very broad valley at the junction of Thangu Chu, Chopta Chu, & Lassur Chu. It is situated at an altitude of 14000ft.

Both the valleys erupt in a riot of colours in the month of June & July. Also in the month of Dec & Jan you can play in the snow or even walk across the meandering frozen Chopta Rivers.

If weather permits and permission is availed, leave for Gurudongmar Lake (17,200 ft). After spending half an hour to one hour there, drive back to Lachen.

Note: Permission for visiting Gurudongmar Lake is issued from Gangtok. We would process and complete the formalities for visiting Gurudongmar from Gangtok itself. Yet the visit depends upon weather and road conditions.
Late lunch and drive to Lachung where you come across some beautiful waterfalls on the way. Night halt will be at Lachung.

Day 5

Day 05: Yumthang Valley and transfer to Gangtok

After breakfast leave for YUMTHANG, the Ultimate Paradise strewn with lush green valleys and high peaked mountains all around you.
Yumthang is renowned for its much hyped Hot Spring, which is rich in sulphur.

In Nov/Dec/Jan you can enjoy the scenic and the panoramic views of the valleys and surrounding mountain ranges with snow-capped peaks.

In April/May/June the valley is struck by the riots of colours with Rhododendron, Alpine & Primula flowers.

Leave Yumthang and return to Lachung for lunch by 2:00 pm.
After having lunch at Lachung, leave for Gangtok. On the way if the weather is clear you may get to see Mighty Khangchendzonga from Singhik.

Reach Gangtok by evening.

Day 6

Day 6: Gangtok – Tsongmo Lake , Baba Mandir - Gangtok

After breakfast proceed for excursion to Tsongmo Lake (12,210 Ft), a 40 km drive which takes about 2.5 hrs. This lake is located very close to Nathula Pass which is the entry point to China & remains frozen for most part of the year. Relax and relish the surroundings, majestic snowy peaks which feed the lake and the clean fresh air. Thereafter, visit Baba Mandir (New), a memorial in the name of Baba Harbhajan Singh and return to Gangtok. Rest of the day is free for leisure. Overnight at Gangtok.

You may also want to visit Nathula Pass. Visit to Nathula pass is dependent upon prior permission and this is not included in the package cost. Extra supplement for Nathula pass  is:
Rs.4000 per vehicle (Sumo /Mahindra Maxx) and
Rs.4500 per vehicle (Innova/Xylo/Scorpio)
